What does it mean to be IC-4 rated (AS/NZS 60598.2.2) ?
Simply put, its safer and longer life expectancy. IC-4 rated downlight means the light's operating temperature is low enough to a point that the light can be safetly covered and abutted by ceiling insulation. What kills LED lights is the heat of the light that builds up durng sustain operation. LED lights with IC-4 are relatively cold hence their life expectancy is greatly enchanced.
